This week, there was finally some major progress for my mom’s powder room that I’m renovating for the One Room Challenge!
Firstly, I had a wallpaper installer hang the wallpaper (on a Saturday, no less). It’s so refreshing to see the paper up, and get rid of the dark merlot color that was starting to give me nightmares. The vanity looks really good in there now, I’m so pleased with how everything is coming together.
Secondly, I found a beautiful remnant of calacatta marble that is pure heaven! It was installed yesterday… it is seriously one of the most beautiful pieces of marble I have seen. Hunting for remnants is a bit like going through a junk yard to find a treasure… sometimes you find the perfect thing and sometimes you have to wait and keep searching. This was actually the second remnant I found, but once I saw it, I knew it was the one! The gray and gold veins of this calacatta slab are the perfect compliment to the wallpaper and walnut vanity. And I’m not going to even tell you the price, it was such a deal.
So now we’re in the home stretch for the big reveal next week! I haven’t pulled the trigger on vanity hardware yet. And I’m hoping my handyman can make a little time for me this week to install the toilet, faucet, mirror, and light fixtures. I also need to style and photograph the space as well! Lots to do before the end of this challenge. I really love how The One Room Challenge has motivated me to get a personal project finished so quickly.
